A long line of palm trees shading the white sand is the hallmark of Matemwe Beach in northeast Zanzibar. The proximity of the African coast has made the island – and this beach in particular – a destination for those looking to relax after a safari through the parks of Tanzania or after climbing Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 m), the roof of the continent. Matemwe is an excellent spot for snorkeling among corals and sailing aboard a dhow, the typical sailing vessel of the Swahili coast. &LNG=en_dot&iact=1
